Mt. Bromo

this summer we visited a volcano. these are pictures in the jeep...just getting there. we rented the jeep and the guide...it reminded me of vacations when i was little and dad would take us up the mtns in colorado...doesn't this picture of the road remind you of that Hansen's???

presentations for human trafficking

we are trying to get into as many groupings of people as possible here to make awareness of human trafficking. we spoke to 200 middle schoolers on their first day of school. each year, this school- very near to our home- has 5-10 students who are victims of human trafficking...

just call me DR martha ;)

Greg had gone out snorkling about 7 months ago and stepped on some coral. it has bothered him ever since. this summer he was pampering it and soaking and it and trying to get the callous off his foot..thinking that is why it was so painful to walk. one night he showed me that he thought it was infected but i looked closer and it seemed to be a white ball that had come through the skin with all his file-ing of the skin...soooo...i got a little needle and began to poke it. it produced a white frosting and greg was in no pain. but if touched his skin he would not so much like that...so i pulled a little on the white part and could tell it was something alien to his foot...like a pearl...so after 20 min of getting up my nerve and greg telling me i had to...i pulled the thing out of the bottom of his foot! it left a hole that is now healed but it's amazing...greg is like an oyster :D his body created a pearl to protect itself...quite amazing...lucky for him i didn't charge too much for the whole thing!

4th of July...indo style

we had a potluck with all our best abilities to make it an american tradition with a grill...but poor greg...his hot dogs didn't even fit on the grill :D hahahaha! but we enjoyed a parade by the kids who decorated their bikes...and even fireworks in the end...we were americans, dutch and indonesians all together :D ian always tries to squint his eyes now when we sees a camera...he holds this pose until the flash goes off! hahaha!

a new cafe in town :D

greg and i spent some time getting this place ready with a new menu, new look, new ideas and hopefully it will take off running :D people you see pictured are workers and of course brookie and hazel :D
